Mars Petcare Partners with Boys & Girls Club

Club members learned about pet behaviors and how to interact safely with pets by recognizing their moods.

January 11, 2020

Mars Petcare of Franklin, TN has partnered with local Boys & Girls Clubs of Maury County (DBA Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee).

To further its efforts of supporting youth programs across the local community, Associates from Mars Petcare piloted their virtual program on responsible pet ownership with students from the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center. The program taught Club members about pet behaviors and how to interact safely with pets by recognizing their moods. Through the partnership, Mars Petcare will host additional sessions for Club members including financial literacy and career days.

“Mars Petcare is thrilled to be partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee,” said Dave Bradey, vice president of People & Organization for Mars Petcare North America. “By leveraging our Associates’ passion and expertise, we hope to positively impact the lives of youth in our community and give them tools to thrive in the future.”

Mars Petcare recently provided a donation to support emergency funding to support the Club’s COVID relief efforts.

Boys & Girls Club has been supporting the needs of students and families this fall by not only providing their signature after school programs with healthy snacks, homework help, and more, but also by extending their hours to serve remote learners during the school day.

The Club’s remote learning support program provides remote learning students with access to high-speed internet and digital devices, help with their online learning from Club staff and certified tutors, and daily meals and snacks provided by Maury County Public Schools.

“We are so grateful for our new partnership with Mars Petcare,” says Boys & Girls Club CEO Robyn Peery. “They are helping make sure we can continue to meet the needs of families in our community. In a year filled with challenges and uncertainties for the kids we serve, their support is needed now more than ever.”
