Kate Beck is a single mom raising her two kids, Taylor and Gunnar. As an essential worker, Kate has been able to send her kids to the Club for free for the last year thanks to the state’s essential worker childcare contract. When you support the Club, you help working families provide for their kids without having to worry about whether they can afford childcare.
We are excited to share that the DHS Essential Worker Childcare program has now been EXTENDED through 8/31/2021! We will be able to continue providing our programs free for essential workers. It is very important to note that in order to participate in the essential worker childcare program through 8/31, the child needs to be enrolled and actively participating before 4/30/2021.
To further its efforts of supporting youth programs across the local community, Associates from Mars Petcare piloted their virtual program on responsible pet ownership with students from the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center. The program taught Club members about pet behaviors and how to interact safely with pets by recognizing their moods. Through the partnership, Mars Petcare will host additional sessions for Club members including financial literacy and career days.
Despite reduced capacity due to COVID-19 and social distancing practices, you still made it possible for us to serve more than 1,000 kids and their families in 2020. You gave the gift of healthy meals, a safe place to go, and peace of mind for parents returning to work.
