NEW Info for Summer Program 2021

Summer information


Hello BGC Families,

Thank you for your patience through this challenging year. We are excited to work with your children this summer. Here are some important details about our offerings this summer.

We will be offering all day services at the following locations starting June 1st:

Culleoka Unit School (K-12th) 6am – 6pm

Mt. Pleasant Elementary School (K-8th) 6am – 6pm

Battle Creek Elementary (K-8th) 6am – 6pm

Wayne Street Unit (K-5th) 6am – 6pm

Columbia Teen Center (6-12th) 7am – 6pm

Pulaski Club (K-12th) 7am – 5:30pm


Additionally, we will be providing two transportation routes for STAR Camp participants after school– one transporting Spring Hill area youth to Battle Creek Elementary, and one transporting Columbia area youth to Wayne Street and the Columbia Teen Center.  Pick up locations are as follows:

Wayne Street and Teen Center STAR Camp after school busing:

Whitthorne Middle—5th graders -> Wayne Street, 6th-8th -> Teen Center

E.A. Cox Middle—5th graders -> Wayne Street, 6th-8th -> Teen Center

Randolph Howell Elementary -> Wayne Street

Brown Elementary -> Wayne Street

Battle Creek Elementary STAR Camp after school busing:

Spring Hill Middle -> Battle Creek Elementary

Spring Hill Elementary -> Battle Creek Elementary

Marvin Wright Elementary -> Battle Creek Elementary

Battle Creek Middle -> Battle Creek Elementary

These are pick up only spots, for youth attending the STAR Camp, and there will be no return drop offs at the end of the program.


If a member takes advantage of the transportation route, parent pick up will happen at the Club’s program site (Wayne Street, Teen Center, or Battle Creek Elementary).



Although we normally operate all day in one of these schools each summer, we were just notified by MCPS that, due to the STAR camp program, neither school has room for BGC until July 6th.  We have secured space to run our summer program at Highland Park Elementary. We will be serving Baker and Woodard families there from 6am to 6pm beginning June 7th through July 2nd, then will be back at Woodard Elementary for the remainder of summer beginning July 6th (Clubs are closed July 5th for Independence Day).

While MCPS is running STAR Camps, we WILL be providing before (starting at 6am) and after school support (dismissal till 6 pm) to Baker and Woodard STAR Camp participants.  Before care will take place at each school. After School will either take place at the schools or be bused to Highland Park Elementary, as noted above.

Once the STAR Camps conclude, all day programing will resume at Woodard Elementary starting July 6th, 6am to 6pm, and no services will be provided at Baker Elementary. Baker students are welcome to attend Woodard Elementary.
