Summer Program Curriculum
The Boys & Girls Club summer program will combine enriching learning opportunities, educational field trips – and, of course, plenty of summer fun! We have a diverse curriculum targeted for each age level, from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Programs include hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) activities, high-yield learning opportunities, character development programs, daily physical fitness, and recreational field trips (swimming, skating, bowling, movies, etc.). Older youth also receive programming that helps prepare them for careers and future success, such as financial literacy classes, resume writing, mock interview preparation, college/career coaching, and more. We utilize partnerships with a wide range of local businesses to enhance program offerings– for instance, engineers from General Motors and the TN Environmental Council conduct an exciting annual hands-on creek sampling and water testing activity with our youth. All of our programs are designed to help prevent summer learning loss by keeping youth engaged in fun, educational and enriching activities during the summer.
Regarding meals for the summer, the Club is still working on a partnership to provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks each day. Final details will be shared as soon as possible.
If you have any additional questions about the summer 2016 programs, you may call 931-490-9401 ext. 2606, or visit any of the locations listed above between May 16 and 20 to speak with someone in person.

My child will need the weeks in July and one week in June – is there a way to register for these weeks only?
Hi, Pamela – Yes, as long as the weeks occur in a row and none are skipped. Hope this helps!
My foster children receive a DHS certificate for care. This can sometimes take a while to receive. With the sudden change from YMCA to B&GC, how will you take into account the additional time needed to receive these certificates?
Thanks for asking! The Boys & Girls Club of Maury County is a regulated child care site as well. Just be sure to notify the state that you are moving your certificate to the Club. They’ve been able to move it quickly for us in previous cases, but Club staff will work with you until it is transferred. Hope that helps!
My son will be attending Kindergarten at McDowell in the fall. So if I sign him up, he will be transported to another sight after school is out each day? I just want to make sure I understand correctly.
Hi, Hilary – Yes, you are correct. Your son will be transferred from McDowell to the Club’s Wayne Street Unit.
The YMCA has just cancelled care next week starting May 23rd. My children will only need to attend the 23rd – 25th. Do I need to pay the entire weeks fee or is it prorated. They will not return for the remainder of the summer but will be attending for before/after care when school is back in session. Can you advise me how to proceed?
Hi, Sheri – Since the exception would need to be approved by Club staff, you’ll have to contact them directly. I’ll send an email to the Club with your question and copy you. Thanks!
My son has and extracurricular activity at school that he goes to 2 days a week for an hour. Will he be allowed to go to the club at his school afterwards? The YMCA allowed him to do this. Can you just pay for 3 days a week? What would the price be? Thanks
Hi, Gina – Thanks for reaching out! I’m going to copy you on an email to the Club staff. They’ll be able to answer your questions.
If I only have my step children every other week during the summer, would there be a way to just pay for those weeks and not the weeks that they wouldn’t be able to attend?
Yes, as long as you already know which weeks your step children will not attend already, that is alright. When you turn in the application for each child this week, be sure to let the staff know. Hope this helps!
Greeting, are you providing any benefits to MCPS employees? What is the exact cost for a salary of 55,000 per week for before and after school?
Thanks for reaching out! Since I’m the site administrator and not actual BGC staff, you’ll need to contact them directly with this question. Call (931) 490-9401 to speak with a staff member any time.
Can I still enroll my daughter in the summer program? We just heard about it.
Hi, Angela! Please accept my apologies for the delayed response! The BGC staff let me know that there are still openings available, but it depends upon the location because some sites are at capacity. If you haven’t already, please call the number listed on our homepage for more information. Thanks for reaching out!
Are there any openings for upcoming kindergartner in July only?
