In partnership with Maury Regional Health and Maury County Public Schools, Boys & Girls Clubs of Maury County is currently operating a temporary site serving the children of healthcare workers. This week, members at that site wanted to say THANK YOU to our community’s essential workers, so they created these beautiful banners and then hung the banners up in the window of Baker Elementary to be visible from outside the school!
“We got the idea from seeing banners on social media that said “Thank you Nurses” or “Thank you healthcare workers”,” said Christian Wyatt, the Club’s Area Director overseeing the temporary site at Baker. “We wanted to make ours include more people so we decided to go with “Essential Workers”. We gave each classroom a word from the phrase and let them make it their own. If you look at each banner close enough you can see that they all have their own theme and design. We also used this as a time to teach the kids here about essential workers and the great work their parents are doing right now. It was really cool to see how excited they got knowing their parents were making such a difference during these times.”
Thank you to Maury Regional Health, Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department, and all of our first responders, healthcare workers, grocery stores, postal service, etc. for all that you do to protect the health and wellbeing of our community!
