About Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee

BGC DoorEvery day, in every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care after–school. Worse, many of these kids are surrounded by drugs, gangs, violence, and other negative influences in their own neighborhoods, right here in Maury & Giles Counties.

These young people need to know that someone in their life cares for them and is looking out for them. Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee provides this and much more for Maury & Giles County youth. It gives them hope, opportunity, and the tools they will need to succeed in life. The Club offers young people what they need and want most:

  • Adults who respect and listen to them
  • A safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves
  • Interesting, educational activities that channel their energy into challenging pursuits

All Boys & Girls Club programs are based on a youth development strategy that builds self-confidence and self-esteem, and fosters a sense a belonging, competence, usefulness and influence.

Since founding in 1999, Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee has been at the forefront of youth development, working with those young people who need the Club most to provide what they need. Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Tennessee is dedicated to making south central Tennessee a better place to live and work by ensuring that all children that walk through our doors graduate from high school ready for college or employment and reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Program Overview

Great Futures equation logoThe Club addresses these needs by providing youth with quality programming facilitated by trained, caring staff members targeted to three priority outcome areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character and Citizenship. All of our programs are designed to accomplish three key goals for our youth:

1) Academic Success: For all youth members to graduate from high school ready for college, trade school, military, or employment;

2) Healthy Lifestyles: For all youth members to adopt a healthy diet, practice healthy lifestyle choices, and make a lifelong commitment to fitness, and

3) Good Character & Citizenship: For all youth members to become engaged citizens involved in their communities, register to vote, and model strong character.

Safety of the kids we serve is our #1 priority. We work every day to create a safe, fun environment, so kids can have every opportunity to be successful in life.

We do not tolerate inappropriate behavior of any kind, including child sexual abuse or misconduct. From strict adherence to policies and guidelines within Club facilities and staffing structure, to equipping young people with the critical thinking and social-emotional skills to make healthy, safe choices, ensuring Club members are safe is the first step to their success.
